Discussion Text
Currently writing this in my freezing dorm room, don't know what else to do so you know what I'm going to be productive and finish tasks early. Since Mr. Ach always encourages me to just write what I want and lean more to telling a story rather than typing up a monotonous-lesson-induced short text, I am going to explain my experience so far in adjusting back to boarding school as we started learning this material while online school and ending it while offline (well kinda online now but you get what i mean). To be honest, I didn't want to go back offline for several reasons, I feel like I'm still in a holiday mode and want to spend more time with friends and family and beloved pets that I didn't get to see for 3 ish months. And oh God I cant bear to leave all the amazing food I get to eat at home, my kitchen too for that reason. But I managed, even though life in DW isn't as good as back home, I still try my best to be grateful.
To conclude, thank you Mr. Ach for this relatively easy topic that's enjoyable and exciting to do.
However, a thing I do like about offline school is the focus and complete concentration I attain compared to zoom meetings at home. Even though we haven't even attended the cross program class due to back to back PJJ at the dorm Thursdays, I can feel the difference in other subjects. Anyway, back to this whole discussion text, I cant really form an introduction as I was absent from the first meeting buttt I did learn this in middle school and it isn't really a hard concept to grasp, unlike If Clause :D
The second meeting I was immediately faced with the discussion text Padlet containing arguments and points to defend a certain motion, I thought to myself well this is pretty interesting as it's basically debate but in writing form ya knoww. Automatically grabbed my whole attention too with the motion that we're defending, which is makeup in middle school. Because A. I love makeup B. I went through middle school with makeup.
Made my research, googled lots of stuff, opened several links to scientific studies, and juiced the hell (sorry for cursing sir) out of my brain for some worthy and logical statements. Also this is a public apology to Kia and Ammar for my debate competition soul got the best of me and I think I sounded pretty passive aggressive for just a daily English assignment. Still very proud of my work though, as it stimulated my debate side that I haven't used in quite a time; forgot how much I used to love that rushing feeling when pour all of my thinking passionately.
Loved the Canva assignment too as I can actually voice my opinions not just in writing and explain while as the opposition, we strongly decline the motion given. Added a few tweaks here and there, added a scientific proof study as well (very important thing to do in a debate, this and the constitution, because you really cant argue with science and the law can you) and we were ready to present.
And thenn we were given the discussion text guided essay task. Was pretty bummed out at first (also sir to clarify I think it is the class activity that's a lott, because I thought the Padlet activity was marked and turns out it isn't and is just an activity) but when I go to do it, words just started floating and it was honestly a pleasant experience since I haven't written an English essay in some time. I genuinely enjoyed the whole thing; the researching, the feeling when you find the perfect way to describe your thought clearly and coherently, googling synonyms of common words to sound more intriguing :D and converting the separated draft format to a whole continuous essay (which by the way, helped so much sir, sure its double the work but then I can just copy paste the whole thing and added a few conjunctions). Also the feeling of triumph when you finish and read the whole thing from the top, really paid off seeing that 100/100 mark (best part of an assignment)
