Captions

The first caption lesson was held on the 18th of august, I was actually surprised it was part of the curriculum. Again, Mr. Ach asked us to submit words that we associate with "caption" on the Mentimeter. I put in movies & tv shows just because I personally cant watch without captions/subtitles, I might have some hearing problems but I think mainly it's because it helps me focus better on the conversation. Also I like to eat while watching something, so subtitles does wonders in that type of situation. In conclusion, I don't think I can watch videos without subtitles/caption so that's the first thing that came to mind.

Anyway, my friends put in a lot of different social medias, like Instagram or snapchat. After movies, I think I can safely say Instagram is a platform that comes first to everyone's mind after they hear the word "caption". That app basically invented captions and made it more popular, I remember the days where I struggle for 2 hours prior to posting a picture just to find the perfect caption. That was me a couple years back and now I just write whatever I want.

After that, Mr. Ach presented a PowerPoint in which he started off with a little quote, I forgot exactly what it is but it basically means don't worry so much about the future or the past and just focus on what's in front of you right now. I think that's a great saying especially for us 12th graders who are in preparation for college, for me especially who worry so much about SBMPTN and whether I would get accepted to my dream university or not.

Hearing Mr. Ach's presentation, I found out that captions are basically anything that describes an illustration (that's a wide spectrum right? it could be a photograph, a cartoon strip, an animation etc.)  We ended the lesson with a very fun activity, which is describing a cartoon strip. I got number 1 and had to describe the first 2 drawings, it was a boy who looked bored in class so he started drawing caricatures. I've never described a word-less cartoon before so that was definitely something. In our next lesson we will be describing either a graph or a cartoon strip again as captions, I think I'll be choosing the comic strip just because it was so fun last time. Anyway, I will be looking forward to the next lesson.
